Virtual Confinement (2020)
Virtual Confinement is a web-based game/VR experience that simulates the experience of individuals confined in a small and exitless room equipped only with an internet-connected diary. It replicates an adapted version of Morita Therapy — a psychotherapy used in China for treating internet addiction, involving stages of isolation and reflection. This work immerses participants in a scenario of forced, prolonged self-isolation, which is paradoxically collective. Despite the absence of visual contact, participants communicate exclusively through a connected diary. Their entries, stored in an online database, are updated immediately in the diary in real time, forming a sense of connection in isolation.
