Mengtai Zhang (b.1990, China) is an artist based in New York. He is a current MFA Sound Art student at Columbia University and holds a BA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths, University of London, and an MFA in Fine Arts at School of Visual Arts. His works appear as ambivalent allegories of power, where personal and sociopolitical factors encounter. He uses different media to create works that take on multiple forms such as installation, field recording, and video. Mengtai's works has been presented internationally, including MOCA Shijiazhuang (2014, Shijiazhuang, China), Handshake 302 (2016, Shenzhen, China), Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture (2017, Shenzhen, China), Sound and Music Computing conference (2017, Espoo, Finland), New Interfaces for Musical Expression (2018, Virginia, US), SNAP (2018, Shanghai, China), Space Heater Gallery, Issue Project Room, ChaShaMa, Humble Arts Foundation, Mise_en_PLACE, and Fridman Gallery in New York.
